The Ashmolea Museum of the Uiversity of Oxford is home to oe of the fiest collectios of art ad archaeology i the world. With some 10,000 objects, it is also the home of the best ad most comprehesive collectio of Aegea atiquities (Cycladic, Mioa ad Myceaea) outside of Greece. Much is owed to Sir Arthur Evas (1851–1941) who maaged durig his directorship (1884-1908) to stregthe sigificatly the museum’s archaeological holdigs ad to establish it as oe of the leadig cetres of archaeological research. Evas is primarily kow today for his excavatios at the largest palace site i the Aegea, the ‘Palace of Mios’ at Kossos, o the islad of Crete. The collectio, alog with its rich archival documetatio, provides a cotiuig source of study ad ispiratio for scholars ad the public alike. The preset publicatio, a product of collaboratio betwee the Ashmolea ad Kapo editios (Athes, Greece), costitutes the first-ever guide to the museum’s superb Aegea collectios.
